The International Classification of Disease (or ICD) 9-codes are 462, PHARYNGITIS (another name for Strep Throat, according to www.webmd.com)
Could not find the number 934 anywhere, but 493 Asthma was the closest I could find. The ICD-9 codes only go to 799 before they start with a letter (like E800, which is a railroad accident).

Both of these were among leading causes of death in the 1940's and before because antibiotics like penicillin had not been discovered as yet.

What state? Some states use different coding systems. I need to know the state to try to attempt to answer.
