Position:Home>Genealogy> Which DNA Test should I take to find out if I'm part Indian(from India)?

Question:Taking a DNA test by yourself won't necessarily prove that you are a descendant from India. If you have parents or siblings living and they know they derive from India, have one of them take the test also. By comparison of the DNA, you should know. Without that, the best a test can tell you is from what region is associated with the DNA.

DNA testing is relatively new.. and it may not show what you want or expect. The results are haplogroups.. being more genetic groups, not families. They do not show countries.. a country is a political thing that did not always exist, centuries ago.
Genealogy is different, in that it uses documents to trace persons by exact name and place. DNA does not replace this.. it is a different focus.
