Question:Hey um... ok so i have a cousin and im trying to find out wat he is to me.

Ok so my grandmother had a kid with a guy. We do not know him.

so for ex. (not using real names)

Mary has a kid with Joe: Bob

Then Mary marries a man named Ben.
They have a daughter: Anna

Anna gets married to David

She has 2 Daughters:
Amelia and Megan

How would "Megan" and "amelia" related to me since their grandfather is different than me???!??

If their grandfather was the same as mine we would be first cousins but since they have a different G-Pa how are they related...does that make them 1st cousins once removed, 2nd cousins...idk!?!?!? someone please help

I tried using those charts but i cant

Someone please tell me and try to explain

Thank you so much internet world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They would be your first cousins. You can further identify it by calling them "half" first cousins, but that is not necessary in daily conversation. The only time the difference matters is when creating your family tree so you get everybody listed in the right place.

This is not a "removed" situation. Their kids would be your first cousin once removed. "Removed" is when 2 people who share the same ancestor are not in the same generation from that ancestor. For example, you and your first cousins have the same grandparents. But to your cousin's kids, your grandfather would be their great-grandfather. They are not in the same generation as you from the common ancestor. They are one generation away from the common ancestor than you are. So they are your first cousin once removed.

If you guys had the same Grandmother then i suppose you might still be first cousins. Your parent and their parent would be 1/2 Sister/Brothers correct? Both children of your Grandmother that is. If you wanted to get technical i suppose you would be 1/2 1st cousins. Unless i am mistaken.

For the sake of making it easy though you are basically first cousins.
