It is my great grand parents, I know they were married as it said her married name and madien name on my grandfathers birth certificate

so if I rang up the main place with the 2 names, but no dates could they find it? one of the names are really uncommon so it shouldnt be hard

but what im saying is if it aint on ancestry is it on their database??

Hello Leanne. If you have the GRO numbers for them it will be much cheaper for you and much quicker for them to find the certificate for you.
If you look on the home page of the GRO website there is a section towards the foot of the page about family history research, if I was in this position , I would contact them by phone they are open till 8:00pm Monday to Friday, and they are BRILLIANT. here's the links for you,

hope this helps, and will you let us know how you get on, I cant wait for you to solve this one.
Leanne, would you like me to search the indice going a bit further back this time.
Do you know where Maud was born, that would be a clue as to where they were married, as in those days weddings had to take place within the Parish that either the bride or the groom was born, it was the bride's Parish of birth that was the first choice.
Could this possibly be Maud,
Name: Maud Hodder
Year of Registration: 1904
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Bakewell (1839 Onw)
County: Derbyshire
Volume: 7b
Page: 893
I noticed from the index that John Thomas Moore was born in
Chapel Le Frith, I believe that to be in Derbyshire.

if you have a rough idea of the dates, names and area they lived in they will do a search through their records for you. But they charge a search fee.
They may or may not find it.

Just coz your Ggrandmothers surname was the same as G grandads on you grandads birth cert doesn't mean they were definately married.
Some people back in the day that couldn't marry for whatever reason often just were known as the same surname as their partner.

But Good luck!

Do you know where they got married if so if you go to the local registrar office in that area or phone them you should be able to get a copy I'm also researching my family good luck and i hope i have been of some help

I second the above answer re Local Registry Office being best bet! If they were married and you know the area contact the local R.O.s!
