The appearance of the actor playing him is consistent with the appearance of Macedonians of the time, based on contemporary descriptions, surviving sculptures and other images, and skeletal remains. Whether it matches that of the historic Alexander is more difficult to say. There are (of course) no surviving witnesses to his person. Ethnobiologists frequently claim that Macedonians and Greeks of the Classical period were not entirely identical to the current populations of those nations, because of 2300 years of imigration. Some may have overstated the extent of the change, but change there has been. One of the most obvious changes in the Greeks (I cannot say for the Macedonians) is that many classical heroes and gods are depicted with golden blond hair, while it is relatively uncommon in present day Greece. The regions a bit north of Macedonia were unquestionably invaded and repopulated by nomadic tribesmen of much further east - It would not seem that such a drastic change occurred in Macedonia and Greece, but some change is to be expected. The very fair, golden haired, relatively tall Alexander depicted in the documentary is consistent with the ancient statuary of the region, and is possibly a good representation. It is a more difficult question to assess the character of Alexander - perhaps he is depicted correctly, and perhaps not. It is very well established that he was a tremendously gifted and imaginative general, but his true thoughts may well be lost to us.

It is known that he was dying his hair blond.
If you see in the documentary you can see his hair are not natural blond.
They do follow the sources surprisingly well.
The duing of hair was very common in the Greek world.

Is this has something to do with the debate of Greece/Macedonia name despute?
I am American, I am not taking place here about name disputes. History is another subject. I answered about ancient states.
I have a history major and I can guarantee you that in history lessons ancient Macedon is considered an ancient Greek state.
Discovery channel doesn't say differently.
I search the link and they say the same.
You can found it here and see what it says

It is about the Greek expansion.
The map points the place of ancient Macedonia in Greece. Doesn't have modern borders. And it speaks about Macedonians like it would have spoken about Athens or Sparta.
I am not debating here. You asked I answer. If you dont like different opinions than yours say so and block other opinions.
It is your right.
