How many clans do you want? Officially, I'm a dues payinng member of the Clan Donald Society, the Macquarrie Clan, and the Henderson Clan. Right off hand, on the American side of the Atlantic, however, I can think of the following Highland surnames: Macquarrie (Isle of Eigg by way of North Carolina and Kentucky), MacDonald (Skye by way of Moore County, North Carolina and Lauderdale County, Alabama) and MacDonnell (by way on Ontario, Canada), Henderson (the Glasgow area by way of North Carolina and Alabama), and MacLachlan (also the Glasgow area by way of North Carolina and Alabama). I'm not even counting my Lowland Scots and Scots-Irish ancestors: Duncans, Crawfords (on both sides of the family), Taits, Shepherds, Alcorns, Johnstons, McKnights, Killeens, Dudgeons, and Caldwells. I can trace my last name (Smith) back to the year 1800 and New Hampshire, but no farther.

Maclachlan, we have a scottish castle. Good question

Clan Drummond

Why would anyone "Thumbs down" any of these answers?

McKay.

On my great grandma's dad's side.

Ferguson, my fathers name.

Karr is a variation of Kerr, my mother is a Duncan and my Father's mother was a MacIntyre.

I only have surnames from the Londonderry and Antrim crowd. Duncan, MacTaggart, Bell, Todd. All survived the siege and moved to Londonderry, NH in the early 1700s. Amazing, impressive and fun people to study.
