Position:Home>Genealogy> Anyone in Ireland/Eire with some info on a train crash please?

Question:OK! Ireland - need your help if poss - looking for info or links to the following - Portlaoighise Train Crash - 22nd December 1944 at approx 11 pm. Would be obliged if anyone in Ireland has any family/friends or contacts that can recall this train crash in which a postal worker named Frank Devine was killed. The late night mail train hit a cattle train that was on the line. Any help would be good if at all possible - he was my grandfather and I want to find out a little more about him - thanks people.

There is a Portlaoise address for Laois Co. Council at
http://www.laois.ie/ContactUs/
and at the end of the page for the library, there is an email address. Check out
http://www.laois.ie/LeisureandCulture/Li...
I'd start with the library - bound to be information there. You might even find you still have relatives in the area, and some of them may have memories or other details for you. Good luck !!

that is very specific
my advice would be to ring the portlaoise county council. they would have records definitely on file.
