Bassa tribe?

Question:I know that the Grebo were originally part of a larger tribe called the Bassa. I also know that they didn't originate in Liberia, where they currently reside today. I have been trying to research this for 20 years, with no success. I have asked family, but because African history is significantly oral, I have not been able to get any information.

According to the first paragraph here.. that tribe originated in Sudan.

I would also hope that a librarian there in country might be able to tell you how to reach any qualified historians or researchers.
Many times, info that was non existant, even 10 yrs ago, is now findable.. if you ask the right persons (and they now perhaps have internet or email).
