Any one know how to prove that the name Jagdish can be used as a female name.?

Question:Indian names for the most part are unisex, I had a daughter 3 months ago, I want to give her my fathers first name as a middle name. The register office told me that I need to prove that it is a unisex name and/or give examples of females named jagdish as a first or middle name. Anyone know off any websites or a way to prove that this is a unisex name, The meaning is great and it is in honouroff my father, his grand daughter having his name.

I think that it does sound like a girl name, and I guess that you could look it up online.

I do not know where you hail from and where such strange rules exist. In fact in India we consider that the grandson/daughter is the reincarnation of grandpa/ma and normally name him/her after him/her.I have seen so many so-called male names given to daughters in Punjab with just the addition of 'kaur' to it.. e.g. Jagdish Kaur.(Kaur signifies Miss but is not taboo even after she becomes a Mrs. The same name can validly continue. In fact, if the daughter-in-law is the first in the house we do not change her name but continue the one she is known after in her parental home). I am rather intrigued that such irrelevant objections are being raised for what is essentially a matter of private choice.Where is this country which does this? Even in Islamic countries they do not object to Hindu names but would expect to prefix Mohammed to it.

There are plenty of people and photos of females if you simply google the name

First word JaG means world and world has no sex. Second ISH means God and god has no sex both are name of power, greatness so anybody if choose the world Jagdish for his/her name it gives only powerful god over world. This name is not only for this Earth only....world means the worlds in universe..too...:)

One my friend is girl and her name is Pankaj...mean Lotus......generally it is male name but she knows and her parents knows that pankaj is a flower....:)
