I am curious to see if I still have distant relatives in Ireland.?

Question:My mothers family orginated from Ireland in the mid 1800's I believe. The last name is Leahy and they came from County Cork. I am curious to see if there is still family living there today.

Do you have any idea what part of Cork? There are Leahys in a few parts of Cork still. I've pasted a link to the phonebook for Co. Cork which lists 260 Leahys. There are probably loads more with the other phone company - BT, or with unlisted numbers.

Last weekend, I went to a Mayflower Society luncheon which discussed DNA genealogy searches. You might want to see if one of these groups can help to match you up with some Irish cousins.
