How can I trace my ancestors from UK?

Question:My family name is HORNER. My father was born in SKIPTON, Yorkshire, England, circa 1918 and died 1975.

I found Harry Horner, born J/A/S quarter 1918 in Skipton, and also Leslie F Horner born in Skipton J/A/S quarter don't know if any of these fellas are your dad. You should have posted your dads name as well, then the researcher, could have helped you out, or at least got you started.

If you could provide your Grandmother's (your father's mother's) maiden name this would narrow it down alot as Horner is a fairly common name.

I found :

(1) Francis W Horner; b. Jul-Aug-Sep quarter, 1917 in the Skipton registration district. His mother's surname is given as Wallace.
(2) Gordon Horner; b. Apr-May-Jun quarter, 1917 in the Skipton registration district. His mother's surname is given as Holmes.
