Position:Home>Genealogy> Do french people still have roman ancestry?

yes because when the Romans conqured Gaul, Roman soldiers intermarried with the Gauls and when the Empire collapsed the Romans in Gaul just stayed there and integrated into the local culture. Therefore the modern French people have some Roman roots

Yes, but then Romans scattered genes pretty far and wide so anyone with European ancestors could well have a Roman ancestor back there somewhere.

Very likely as the area was occupied by Romans for hundreds of years.
In the UK a few years ago a village in the South West of England was tested. The men there often have distinctive Roman noses so their DNA was checked and found to be very similar to certain Italian DNA.
if the Roman genetic influence is still found in England it must also exist in France!

You asked this yesterday. The question has not been removed. It is still on my list from when I answered it the first time.

The only way your question can be removed is for you to remove it or for someone to report you in case you violate Yahoos rules and Yahoo will remove it.

The Romans were in lots of places and I would imagine people with their ancestry are all over Europe and other places.

Yes - we all got mixed up at sometime or another
