The name shows up both as Ruthenian and Polish. Ruthenians lived in a Russian area of what's now the Ukraine and they have a Polish dialect. Here are the names from Ellis Island that might be related to you. If one is your ancestor, you can pull up their immigration record and find their hometown at http://www.ellisisland.org

I took out all of the Italians with the same surname as they're most likely not any relation to you.

Ibigniew Parij 3 Sep 1944 abt 1919 London, England Polish Robert Lansing

Jacka Parij 9 Jul 1913 abt 1893 Bremen Ruthenian (Russniak) (Ruthenian) Kaiser Wilhelm Der Grosse

Pawlina Parij 22 Oct 1909 abt 1891 Hamburg Polish President Lincoln

Pylup Parij 22 May 1906 abt 1888 Antwerp, Belgium Ruthenian (Russniak) (Ruthenian) Finland

Wladimir Parij 31 May 1954 Naples,Ita Constitution

Wladyslaw Parij 29 Aug 1934 1913 Gdynia, Poland Kosciuszko

Zbigniew Parij 20 Dec 1943 abt 1919 Gdynia, Poland Polish Morska Wola

Zbigniew Parij 17 Oct 1943 abt 1919 Gdynia, Poland Polish Morska Wola

Zbigniew Parij 20 Dec 1943 abt 1918 Liverpool, England Polish Morska Wola

Zbigniew R Parij 7 Nov 1944 abt 1919 Oran, Algeria Polish George Washington

Zbigniew R Parij 12 Dec 1944 abt 1919 Southampton, England Polish George Washington

Galij was much easier to trace...this is the only record of anyone with that name emigrating from Europe to the US. It's from the Hamburg Passenger lists.

Iwan Galij 25 Nov 1909 abt 1877 m?nnlich (Male) Southampt (New York)on; Cherbourg; New York Strzelbice Amerika

There are also these three records from Ellis Island on the same name. They list it as Galician, which is the southern part of Poland (including Krakow) that was under the control of Austria-Hungary until the end of WWI.

1. Johann Galij Meznice, Galicy 1907 44
2. Johann Galij Strilbyce, Galicy 1905 26
3. Mikolaj Galij Lasze 1900 28

I could only find a little bit of information in relation to the surname Parry,
Parry Name Meaning and History
Welsh: Anglicized form of the patronymic ap Harry ‘son of Harry’ (see Harris).
www.ancestry.com nothing for Galy on this site though,
hope this helps.
