Position:Home>Genealogy> Does my grandfather have to pay back his carers allowance while my grandmother w

Question:I think it's unlikely because, when my mum died I was claiming carers allowance for caring for her, and it was paid for 8 weeks after her death. She spent many weeks in hospital and I did ask if I had to cancel the benefit whilst she was being treated in hospital, it wasn't cancelled, and you are NOT committing fraud by continuing to claim it. Here is the phone number for the carers allowance department in Preston England. 01253 856123.

Yes he does because the carer is not being used or paid in that time and hence keeping the money would be fraud in the eyes of the law.
