Position:Home>Genealogy> How can I find what children a couple in Toronto had after 1924?

Question:I have their name, marriage date (in 1924) and the city and county of marriage. I found their marriage certificate on ancestry, but how do I find out what kids they had? Their kids may still be alive.
Is there a birth index for Ontario like there is in the UK?
(please don't tell me to try genesreunited and rootsweb etc. I know all the obvious stuff)

All post-1911 Ontario records are held here:

Office of the Registrar General
189 Red River Road
P.O. Box 4600
Thunder Bay, Ontario
Canada P7B 6L8
http://www.cbs.gov.on.ca/mcbs/english/bi...

Unfortunately, as you can see if you look around the website, not many people are eligible to apply for a copy of a certificate. There is pretty much a 95 year rule in force for genealogists and no publically available indexes for this period.

Those records that are generally available (up to 1909) are what is already up on ancestry.ca. It's a privacy thing obviously. Presumably, as with scotland, they add another year into the public records every January 1st, so records for the 1920s won't be up for at least another fifteen years. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Birth indexes for Ontario are only available to 1911.

You may be able to obtain birth certificates, depending on your relationship to the person:

Here's a good site that outlines searching for Ontario birth records AND what alternatives you have if you can't access the birth records:
