I have read your three questions on this subject, and can understand how you want to get to the bottom of the matter. If you know your original surname at birth, I can't see how your original birth certificate will tell you any more, unless you want to see if a father's name is on it. Any Deed Poll certificates won't tell you why your name was changed.
If mum won't tell you, can you ask a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or any old family friends?

I'm sorry, I can't answer this because the question is not clear:

no because i have birth certificate issued as a teenager stating name it was changed it..so why can you think?

Could you restate it, please?

Ask your parents.

Failing that, when you go for exams you usually have to use the name on your birth certificate. If you are going for a job/working overseas etc later on and you have different documentation in various names it will make it harder to prove your identity. Haing only changed my name once it can be quite confusing having different names for different documents.

A birth certificate CAN NOT be changed, whatever surname on it is your official one, unless you have your name changed by deed poll, AGAIN an official document. It sounds to me like a situation a relative of mine put her daughter in. I know that both the surname of her daughter and son, are the names of their respective father's, but I also know my niece changed them to her name when she split from their fathers. She just did it, you can call yourself any name you want, but if you want to change, there is only one way for a man, deed poll, two for a woman, marriage or deed poll. These are recorded officially. The only reason I can think of for having a officially changed birth certificate is if one of the parents is not the parent of the child, but it was hidden at the time. Birth certificates are only issued at the registration of a birth. In the Uk I think it is law to register a birth within 6 weeks of the date.

The name on your birth certificate is your LEGAL name (no matter what you or someone else may decide to call you) until such time as there has been executed a legal name change. The most common time this happens is with marriage. But when you get married (and change your surname), the name on your birth certificate doesn't change. Your legal name does change though.

And a person can change their legal name any time they want to (as long as it isn't to avoid legal responsibilities or criminal prosecution). Not recommended that one do this on a whim but it is possible.

When very young, there aren't that many occurrences when your legal name makes any difference. You are usually just identified as a child of a parent. However, as you reach teen years, and certainly upon reaching the age of majority, it becomes VERY important. And you do need to present yourself in official documents with your LEGAL name. So maybe that was the reason for the change in the family. At some point it may have become important for you to use your LEGAL name for legal/official reasons.

Is your father your biological father?......Maybe your parents brought you up with your fathers surname ..but on your birth certifiacate is your biological fathers name.

Now, it doesn't matter because school bullies can't harm you or make fun of you.

Best ask your parents.....tell them you're old enough to know why.
