Try this website

go to somerset house thats a big building where all the archives are stored from births deaths and marriages or try a online family tree on a genealogy site these are found on google toor bar search engine

The Oxford Name Companion, just directs me to see Constance or Kiss. I had a look at both surnames and Kiss makes reference to the French name CUISS but that's all I could find sorry.

First, interview the old living members of you family and clan (no matther how so little of them are left). I'm sure you can pick up something important from them like cues where your family originated from. Try to establish a family tree from what is available to you now. Then, search the web. Find out if people with your surname still live in places mentioned in your interiew with your old relatives. Try to get in touch with those who you found (in your search) could be your relatives. Who knows what you might find? There may be other people with your surname who are trying to do just as you are doing.

Hope for a grand clan and family reunion!

Not dying out that quickly - I've had a glance at the UK Electoral Roll and there are in excess of 200 of you, over the age of 18 listed.
My computer stops counting when it gets to 200, so there could be many, many more.
See if anyone has done a "Cuss Family Tree" on the web; not necessarily your family, except back in the mists of time, but it will give you some idea if they are thriving.

go to roots web it's a free site linked to ancestry .com and than type your name in and the second page will tell you the history of your last name and the origin have fun........
