Position:Home>Genealogy> Have any of the regulars on the genealogy board noticed that links are not?

Question:working on your final postings. It just started in the past day or so.

Yes. I had a link on an answer that didn't work. I typed it in manually, and found that it was valid.

Later, I went back to the question, tried the link directly, and the link worked. Mysterious!

I think the Software Janitors have been just a little bit overwhelmed with the Super Bowl and Super Tuesday workload....

I hadn't noticed it before you mentioned it but I just checked some of my answers with links in the source section and I can say with confidence, it's not just the Genealogy board....many of my posts in the Video and Online Games section now have useless links...which doesn't help when the link is longer than what the source box shows so you can't even see the majority of the links I'm quoting. If I can't read the whole website, I can't type it in to figure out what other responders would like for me to see and others can't figure out what I would like them to see. I'm assuming it's a site-wide problem as the History section is having the same problem.

Hopefully, Yahoo will eventually get the links back up and working/linking, as there's no point in having a source section without being able to link to the source (And yes, I only mean if the source is an online source and not a book or journal source). I also note that even the links placed in the answers are not working. That's just as useless if you need to cite something in the answer.

I had not noticed. Most of the links in my stock answer to

Free Genealogy sites?
How do I find {surname} family tree?
Any (Surname) out there?

are now broken. If they are longer than 40 or so characters, they are truncated and useless.

yep... you are correct...
mine are not linking either. Have you sent a report, shirley?

I've noticed it a few days ago because I always go back and see if my hyperlinks work. Because of this problem, I've also added the instruction "goggle" and then a few key words before any posts where I have posted any links.
