You don't need his ssn:

www.zabasearch.com
or google him name

You cannot do that. As he is a living person and his social security number is a private, federally protected form of identity, you cannot find him with it on the internet. You will have to retain the services of a private investigator for that.

Otherwise, your only option is by name, using one of those phone book type websites. To do that, you will need to know what city he is in.

normally, we would assume you are talking about an adult, who has the right to not be 'found' if they choose. In that situation, you technically have no reason/ right to have or use the ss# in any way.
If the son is a minor, and mom has violated a valid custody order, that can be a different issue.

EVERYTHING depends on your state, the exact situation, and the willingness of law enforcement to help. That still does not mean that there is any free site online that can be used, just that you may have valid legal reason for searching.

I have a friend that will do the search for free but she must make sure you are not crazy person on the hunt first.

The Social Security Administration has a service whereby they will forward a letter if you provide a name and ssn. The letter must be unsealed, contain your name and address, and have nothing illegal in it. Contact your nearest social security office for details on where to send this.
