I had a birth in Aden (now Yemen) in 1879 which was registered and indexed in the UK BMD Overseas Indexes in the Army returns - the father was a soldier. Other British citizens living overseas may have been recorded in the overseas consular lists via the British Embassy and records found their way back to the UK - Yemen was a British protectorate for many years so anyone born there is more likely to be recorded in British indexes and not Yemeni ones. It's always worth searching findmypast.com (ancestry don't have the overseas and military BMD indexes) to see if they are there.

I've no idea when registration for ordinary Yemenis might have begun, but you should bear in mind that they will be in Arabic. I'd politely suggest that your first port of call should be your local Yemani Embassy/Consulate and/or Ambassador to see if they can point you in the right direction. Chances are, any written application would need to be in Arabic, so seek all the help you can get from the locals.

I cant find anything anywhere on the Internet that might give the information, I shall have another look though I don't give up that easily.
