Question:If someone is the grandson of my great-grandfathers brother, then what relation is this person to me?

2nd cousin, once removed is correct.
He IS a 2nd cousin to your father, if they share a gr grandparent in common. He is THEN one (generation) removed from you.
The fact that he is of your father's generation does not matter, except to realize that he and you are not of the same generation (which is how "once removed" comes into the terminology).
siblings share parents
1st cousins share grandparents
2nd cousins share gr grandparents
3rd cousins share gr gr grandparents
so on...

i dont think there is a name for it... cousins 5 times removed?? =S

uncle

3rd cousin ?

sounds like a great cousin

your uncle.

Wendy is a VERY EXPERIENCED genealogist. She is 100% correct, so go with her answer. Your "additional information" shows your ignorance or lack of understanding about genealogy and relationships, so you do not have the understanding to say this person would not be your cousin. He IS your cousin, as Wendy said.
