The Campbells massacred a number of MacDonalds. There is no clan O'Donnell in Scotland; it's an Irish name.

It was the Campbells who slaughter the Macdonalds!

Macdonalds I think. O'donnel is more of an Irish name anyway ... I am Scottish, just can't remember any history! Lol, sorry if I wasn't much help!

At Glencoe in Strathclyde, the McDonald's were massacred by the Campbell's under their chieftain John Campbell "Earl of Breadalbane" on 13th February 1692.

To this day there are Campbell's who will not speak to McDonald's and vice versa.

.I know this to be a fact because one of ex mothers in law was a Campbell who kept a hotel on the south coast and would not accept bookings from any McDonald's knowingly.

I believe Glencoe is now a ski resort

A professor of American history at a Texas university by the name of Campbell was sitting on a bus in Edinburgh a few years ago when an elderly woman boarded it. She asked loudly if any Campbells were aboard and refused to enter upon learning there were. Dr. Campbell's wife told me this story last month upon learning that one of my great-grandmothers was a MacDonald. You are thinking of the "Massacre at Glencoe".

Although the evil Cambells slaughtered the Glencoe MacDonalds and forced them from their homes they did,in fact, continue a general land grab against a lot of other peoples in a campaign of ethnic cleansing for their own advantage for centuries afterwards. They wiped outthe inhabitants of the Kintyre peninsular and had to repopulate the place with lowlanders from SW Scotland to get any rents from the place. If you kill a Cambell in Scotland it's a good thing that we still have a jury system.

Although I'm English part of my ancestry is Glencoe MacDonald and I've learnt the stories!
