It's pretty unlikely that you will find someone with this posting, given the way that Yahoo! Answers is organized as a question-and-answer forum. It's not really a message board.

Try rootsweb.com. Their genealogy message boards have helped me a lot. I've found several distant cousins (although sometimes months or years after I've posted.)

There's one for Berks County, PA, where your grandpa was from:

You can also find resources re: researching this area at

Good luck! I hope you find some new "cousins"!

hi.. I don't know your grandpa, but that does not stop us from finding info for you.
GEORGE PATTERSON 12 Jul 1915Dec 198619607 (Reading, Berks, PA)19607 (Reading, Berks, PA)196-07-2125Pennsylvania
I'll guess that this is your grandpa? If it is, we know we should be able to find him in the 1930 census, and learn more about his family. The problem is that there are bunches of George Pattersons in Pennsylvana, and the date in this record "could" be slightly off.
If you can ask dad or mom.. or one of his other children, they may remember the names of George's parents (their grandparents but your gr grandparents.)
You can come back and edit your question to let someone behind me pick up the trail, or you can repost.
Here's the trick.. we use available records, and with that, we can usually find out tons about your ancestors. We just need the parent names to grab onto.
edit-
It is possible I located grandpa's ww2 record.. but if they MIGRATED after 1930 from Canada, that could explain where he should be as far as census.
Birthplaces of his chilldren MIGHT answer this. Another ave is his social security application, which can be ordered for $27.

Small world..
My family, for the last 4 or so generations has been pretty interested in our genealogy. As it turns out, my fathers fathers (my grandfather) side of the family is from the town of Warren PA. Families back then had many siblings so its possible that we could be 2nd cousins or something!

I havent gotten to my grandfathers "branch" of the family yet and know it will prove to be most difficult since most are deceased by now. I've only just finished with my mothers side- 8 generations back! Yahoo! If you continue to research your family and find that they are from the same area as mine, you should email me. We might be able to help eachother!
