Normally, researching your family tree will involve locating records of your ancestors. In most cases, those ancestors are usually dead. Just imagine, for one minute.. that none of your live relatives live there anymore.. and if they did, they don't know anything more about the ancestors than you do. Or..your grandfather was an only child; his father was an only child.. so forth.
What I am trying to explain, is that it can be helpful to find relatives to share information with. It is not critical to research, which relies on historical records.
People define "family tree" in several ways. It could be your gr grandparents, and all their descendants. That would be the 'family' of John Smith and Mary Jones. What that does, is leaves out your other side of your ancestry. Researching BACK, and including all your ancestors, does not require down to the present, and in most cases, the records are more open.

here is a list of ways to find living persons.. and you have to have a name. Yahoo prohibits posting info on live persons, just so you are aware of this. I can give you sources to look, but cannot post your aunt mary, and her phone listing here.

I'll also give my favorite list of resources for new researchers. Something here may help you out.
