Question:I had a full blooded Cherokee Indian grandmother but, she married my grandfather which was not. What percentage of Indian would my father of cherokee in him and then, me and my brother and also my brother has a son would he have any trace of the indian blood in him? Her tribe is the one that is in Kinder Louisiana.

Your father would be half/half, you would be 1/4, your nephew would have a trace of 1/16 Indian blood.

You are 50% Indian.

as I always strongly advise anyone who has Native background.. it is absolutely critical to verify the information using original records, ie census, birth/death certificates, so forth. Assuming grandma is, in fact, 100%, then you would be 1/4th Native.

this info relates to the tribe located near Kinder, Louisiana (that presently operates a casino there). It does not show up as Cherokee. If grandma's family was in fact from here, they should show up in census records, etc, allowing you to know more about your actual ancestry.
