(Here's a few names for you. Hope it helps)

Here's one
http://www.genealogia.com/v2/welcome/def...

but there's only one person in it with the name "Longest."

I really don't think it's a French surname, especially since there's not one person with it in France's white pages.

There is a database at
http://www.genealogy.tm.fr/
but it is in French. You can look up to see if you can find your relatives.

There is also some additional helpful info on http://genealogy.about.com/od/france/

Good luck!

GeneaNet is France's rough equiv. to our Ancestry.com. Its records can be searched by last name for free. If you want to search by first and last, you have to either pay or go (literally) one tree at a time to find what you're looking for. Here's a link to all LONGEST records in their files...and they do have an English interface, so no fumbling in French. If you find someone with info from your line, you can also send an email and ask for more help.
