That is, they weren't a separate people in Kent --"Canti" was the Roman designation for the people (ALL the people) who lived in what we call Kent. Cantize is actually a variant (or misspelling) of Cantis or Cant -- which simply mean "Kentish" or "of Kent." She lived in Kent and her name is "Kentish," basically. |
