Question:And which company were you tested by?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: And which company were you tested by?

I had my daughter tested and she belonged to Haplogroup U.
My son's results were Haplogroup I (M170).

Of course they were different as the males were tested for Y-chromosone DNA and the females using mtDNA.

They each used a swab test for the National Genographic Project cosponsered by National Geographic and IBM.

I bought the book "Genetics for Dummies" to try to understand a bit about genetics, but Haplogroups aren't really made clear.
I was tested by Oxford Ancestors (matrilineal) and they came up with a Clan Mother called "Una" who is not one of the seven daughters of Eve, nobody else seems to belong to this group (or nobody has responded to my "anybody else out there?" query) but she seems to have origins in Asia.
Obviously a lady with a stout pair of walking boots! I'm in the UK and the only foreign hiccup I've found so far is a male on my father's side who appears to be French (back in the 1500's).
