Question:About 25 years ago my uncle disappeared while working on a dredge boat. It was ruled as a drowning even no body was ever found. Before his aparent death he was in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Many family members believed he had another family in Germany. So my question is if he did leave our family and go to germany how would I find him? What if he changed his name? By the way jsut incase someone on here may know him his name was Phillip DiMattesa. Thanks everyone

If he was declared dead, then it is likely that someone would have looked in Germany under his real name. If you would look for him, you'd need multiple pictures of him, and locations he was at. But doing a search for his name in search engines would be a start, as would checking online German phone directories (do you know German?).

If the dredging boat was in Germany it would be a far more plausible story. But if it was in the US, especially if he had left the service, then it is very unlikely.
