Position:Home>Genealogy> Where does the last name "Stark" originate from? Info?

Question:It's my grandmother's maiden name and she and her family lived in Germany but I'd like to do more info on her side of the family, already covered the Irish people on my grandfather's side but haven't done her family yet. She and her family lived in Besheffsheim (didn't spell that right but English translation is Bishop's Home) on der Rhone. If anyone has any information on the Stark family thnx in advance.

This is what www.ancestry.com has to say about the name,
Stark
Scottish and English: from Middle English stark ‘firm’, ‘unyielding’, hence a nickname for a stern, determined, or physically strong person.
German and Jewish (Ashkenazic): nickname for a strong, bold person, from Middle High German stark(e), German stark ‘strong’, ‘brave’.
