Position:Home>Genealogy> German Family?

Question:My grandfather moved to the UK (cambridgeshire) in the second world war, as prisoner of war I believe.
He met my Grandma and stayed in the Uk, got married had four sons(my dad included).
All I know about his german family, is he had a brother who died in a 'Panda' truck. I'm not too sure about the rest.
Where can I find more infromation for free?

It shouldn't be hard to find his paperwork from after the war. You'll need to find his immigration and naturalization documents. I believe you can request them from this office, as long as they're over 30 years old, as noted on their website:

Home Office Immigration and Nationality Department
Liverpool Nationality Office
B4 division
India Buildings
Water Street
Liverpool L2 0QN.

In addition, there is a wonderful page on the British National Archives website that will lead you to military and civil records that will help tremendously in your search. POW records are included in their collection: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

"Panda" is probably "Panzer," an armored vehicle usually called a "tank."
