Position:Home>Genealogy> My grandmother was born in Malaysia, how do I get her birth certificate or trace

Question:PLEASE HELP! My grandma was born in Malaysia & I always wanted to know about her life, her parents etc...
She moved to South Afica and married there and now I have immigrated to New Zealand! How do I start investigating from NZ? If I was to go to Malaysia, can I find out about her.. is there a govt office that keeps all the records??
Would appreciate any help from any who did a similar investigation.

I think this is what you are looking for, this is the place to apply for the certificate for your grandma.

hope this helps.

I would also try looking up her immigration info in South Africa. A lot of her personal info had to be given when she moved there. That would give you a good starting point to look for when searching other relatives in Malaysia...
