Position:Home>Genealogy> Do you have a genealogy club for gingery, gingerich?

Question:Ancestry has a free query board for both:
http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.ging...
http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.ging...

GenForum does too:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/gingery/
http://genforum.genealogy.com/gingerich/

All four are much smaller and much less active than this one, but their standards are higher and they are much more focused than this one for your needs.

No club, but I've had the honor of researching it for people in the past. There was a large group of people with that name who originally immigrated from Germany to Canada. A generation or two later, they migrated into the lumber camps in Michigan. There were also several who emigrated directly to the US, and relatively early in the migration out of Europe.

You'll find when you do the research that the name comes from several regions in Germany. It's equally as prevalent in Hesse as it is in Prussia and Bavaria. If you're from the Midwest, I'd be happy to help you start a good search. You'll find the records are very well-kept and easy to follow.
