Position:Home>Genealogy> Has anyone ever had a geographic dna test done?. if so, where did you get it don

Question:You mean for the National Geographic Genographic Project? I did it. They send you a kit and you do it in your own home. It's just a simple cheek swab, really easy, and they send you a few sets of instructions and a DVD in case you don't understand how to do it. You mail it back and the results are available online in a few weeks.

It was really surprising. I'm a woman, so they were testing my maternal line. My mother's family is black Irish, but it turns out that they were originally reindeer hunters in Finland 20,000 years ago. That was really interesting.

In fact, it was so interesting that I bought a kit for my boyfriend, since he doesn't really know anything about where his family might be from. His results were disappointingly generic: they told him that he was a white male from somewhere in Northern Europe. Boring.
