Do you mean a ouija board? If so it's supposedly a board game where you talk to spirits but some people think it has abilities for evil spirits to use it for evil things.

justme gave a wonderful explanation. Some persons believe it works, others call it scam.
It would be an excellent tool for genealogy, if it worked. I'd love to ask research questions that only spirits could answer.
