The standard Brown/blue (BB/Bb/bB/bb) color scheme they teach in high school biology, where everyone has either brown or blue eyes, is fine. It explains most people, but there are really about seven genes for eye color. That is why there are grey, green, violet and "hazel" eyes; also 12 shades of blue and 4 shades of brown.

You got a rare combination from your 8 great grandparents via your 4 grand parents and 2 parents. People will be attracted to and fascinated by your eyes for the rest of your life. You'll have to learn to live with that.

I'd guess that your grandparents' eyes are not all the same shade of blue.

Eye color isnt actually a real color...its a concentration of pigments. If you have a small amount of pigment than your eyes appear to be blue when the the light reflects off of them, and if you have a large amount of pigment than your eyes apear to be dark brown. Green is more of the middle ground of pigments. My eye color for example is "Hazel" i guess you could call it. The outside rim is a dark blue gray color the center is green and around my pupil is a light brown almost yellowish color. The pigment concentration depleats in my eyes the farther away from the pupil it goes, which is what gives it the large aray of colors.

I have green eyes, my mother has brown, father has blue. I have always figured that my green was the result of a 50/50 split of the 2 sets of genes.
