Question:Just wanted to get an idea what people would put on their grave/tombstone when the pass. Or what does a love one or someone you know has on theirs

I read this somewhere and really liked it, so i think i might some day(NOT ANYTIME SOON) use it. "Don't grieve for me, for now i am free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when i heard him call, i turned my back and left it all." There is more to it but it is really long so i thought i'd just stick to this part.

We all know one of Yogi Berra's comments, "It's not over 'til it's over."

For his epitaph, he chose "It's Over."

Just the basics.
Your full name
Birth date
Died Date
If buried with your spouse you could put the date married.
Some people put the names of their children on the back of the tomestone as record for future generation.

Some people put an epitaph but I think most people just stick to the basics.

My Favorite Stone is my great aunts
She has her name and includes her maiden name in " "
they Wedding date in the middle heart and then her husbands info it is a oblong style with a slight tilt back.
It is very pretty and has doves on it.
under the names and dates it says
Forever we shall love.
I want my husband and I to have one similar.
The more you have on the more expensive they are and the bigger they are the more expensive they are.
I enjoy the old Woodmen of World stones that look like Logs.
Those are neat at the cemeteries.

I just think it's so important not to lose sight of that basic reality especially if you're Christian. I think that saying does a good job expressing it.

I have always wanted to put "Thanks For Coming By, Have a Nice Day!"

Instead of "Born" on my tombstone, I want "SUNRISE" with the date I was born, and instead of "Died", I want "SUNSET" with the date. I saw this on a picture once, and thought it was so nice and also different. Since I like to write, I'd also like the image of a scroll of paper with a quill pen "writing" the above on the paper. :)

Seriously though, I would like it to say, "He loved these mountains."

From my experience researching my ancestors --- Go for the basics and have it done well, with good quality stone. Something that will hold up to weather for 300 years, and still be legible.

For me, I'm going for cremation and scattering; my descendents can find me through my VISA transactions!
