I'm very pale and have freckles.

How many caucasians are born with brown eyes?

I think most Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes but the color changes over the first several months of life. The color you are born with is not necessarily what they end up being. Check the following sites. They have some interesting information.

Thousands upon thousands

Edit - lol, tetchy little thing aint you?

thousands? Hundreds of millions.

Billions brown eyes are the most dominant eye color

brown is the most common eye color and not uncommon for white people to have brown eyes

Me and my siblings all have brown eyes (very dark), I am very blond my hair colour was platinum blond up till I was a teenager. It has gone darker but it's still very blond.

millions and millions and millions and millions... Are you getting the picture? Doh!

lots

Almost everyone in my family has brown eyes. We are Italian, Austrian, German, Irish, Apache Indian in various branches of the family tree.

I am sure thousands or even millions. I worked with 2 women who were white and had brown eyes. One was of Greek ancestry and the other was of Arab ancestry.

Many! With 3/4 of the world having brown eyes, it's no wonder that most Caucasians have brown eyes too.
There may be some other extraction in your heritage, where your ancestors settled in Germany -maybe from the Middle East, Africa, Italy or Greece, etc., long before any of your family history was ever documented.
Are you sure that you do not have any Native American ancestry -that is, if several generations of your family have lived in America?

Adolf Hitler was German, but ironically had dark hair and eyes, rather than being the blue eyed blonde that he thought was superior.

Don't worry, your are normal, and prolly beautiful the way you are!

Both of my sisters were born with black hair but it lighten up and they became tow heads.
My younger sister has brown eyes. When she was little, she had this extremely blond hair, brown eyes and tanned very easily.

Brown eyes are dominant.

befor you start calling people dumb, maybe you should get your facts right befor you look like the dumb @ss. lol (sorry)

It's called a genial throwback, As there has been two white parents and, they have had a jet black baby,

If somewhere along your family tree has had brown eye's it has missed several generation's and hit you.

Most anglo-saxons are born with brown or browny-green eyes. Blue eyes are not common in anglo-saxon babies at birth and grey eyes are even less common. From my experience, babies with blue eyes at birth stay blue.

I would say a lot of Caucasian babies are born with brown eyes, I would have guessed more brown then any other color.

I think you mean you were subsequently told you were born with brown eyes.
Not uncommon.

I was born with very dark brown eyes, in fact--as was my oldest niece (now 34 years old, and her eye color is just as dark brown as when she was born). I also had freckles when I was growing up. My eyes now are a hazel color with the brown specks. I am caucasian, too. I also have nieces and nephews with blonde hair/blue eyes; red hair/brown eyes; red hair/blue eyes. So, it does happen.

80% of all people are born with brown eyes. Think about every single person youve ever know. Did they have brown eyes?

I have three children born with brown eyes, who still have brown eyes. And one born with blue eyes who still has blue eyes. All white. Hope this answers your difficult question.
Your's, Dumb and stupid!

If you're so smart why are you asking us for answers. Find it your self. Duh, I'm too dumb to know...

my brother and sister both had brown eyes at birth and still have brown eyes ,i have green eyes again from birth hence my cat nickname.

"A blonde, a red head, and a brunette robbed a bank. When they heard the police coming they ran outside of town into a barn. When they got there they found three potato sacks and each climbed in. When the cops came into the barn they kicked the first bag that the red head was in, and she shouted, “Meow.” The cops thought she was just a cat. They then kicked the bag that the brunette was in, and she shouted, “Bark.” The cops thought she was only a dog. When they kicked the bag that the blonde was in she shouted, “Potatoes!” "

"Why Do Europeans Have So Many Hair and Eye Colors?"
http://cogweb.ucla.edu/ep/Frost_06.html

As a youth I was blue eyed & blond... my eyes are still blue and over the years my hair color has gone from blonde to light brown to grey [and a lot less hair] without dye.

I was BORN with brown eyes, and I can trace my caucasian lineage down for generations.I'm touched with Irish,Italian and Polish.I once dated a mostly Irish girl with a touch of French who was born with difinitive brown eyes(like I STILL have).Yes,Dear,we Caucasians ARE born with brown eyes, and ,sometimes,we keep them.
NOT a hard question, why did so many misunderstand? :)

Let's see, how to answer this question. First off, how about trying to not be so rude when you are asking other people for help?! YOU WANT AN ANSWER? I agree with Insane_Mad_Maniak and CSBIUP.

After the way you have attacked responders with your rudeness and insults, I would say that at this point, you are not entitled to an answer.

AND, if so many people seems to have misunderstood your question and are not answering it the way you were looking for, just maybe we are NOT the problem, but YOU are with the way you asked your question.

AND, this is the genealogy board, not genetics. They are 2 different things and have nothing to do with each other. Genealogy is a HISTORICAL body of research of one's dead ancestors that anyone can do if they work at it. Genetics is a SCIENCE for which one must be specially trained in college to be a genetics scientist. Genealogists are NOT geneticists. We are not trained to answer your question. That is like asking a librarian how to do open heart surgery. I would say that shows that YOU are the one that is stupid to not know the difference.

You have been reported for violating Yahoo community guidelines.

You're suprised every day at how stupid some people are..........I'm surprised every day at how ignorant and rude some people are. You've just increased todays count - congratulations!

The key word in this discussion should be "seem" since many Caucasians "seem" to be born with blue irises because they haven't yet started producing the melanin that will change their eye color to brown as they mature. According to Wikipedia (the fount of all Internet knowledge), "exposure to light after birth triggers the production of melanin." Perhaps you were immediately placed under a bright fluorescent light to cure new-born jaundice?

Brown eyes predominate worldwide (even among Europeans) since brown-eyed irises come from a dominant gene while blue-eyed irises are from a recessive one. Brown eyes, however, are the least common among Nordic and Germanic populations. In Iceland, for example, 90 percent of the population have blue and green eyes. At least in the case of geographically-isolated Iceland, this is because people with the recessive gene for blue or green eyes have intermarried.

Incidentally, Hitler, who certainly pushed the Aryan look, had brown eyes. Then again, Luci Johnson, the daughter of LBJ, also worried about having brown eyes in a blue-eyed family. Her lineage was primarily Scottish. At any rate, the tenor of this Internet conversation has made my brown eyes blue!

I think it is unfair of you to call people stupid. As you are incorrect.

Most children are born with dark eyes. Check with the nursery at the hospital.

My daughter was born with very dark eyes and then they turned amber as she got older. Her first son had dark eyes when he was born and now they are tiger colored. Her second son was born with dark eyes and now his eyes are green.

So perhaps you need to get your facts straight before you start calling people stupid. Those are grounds to be booted out of yahoo

birth eye colour for almost all children is a blue hue irrespective of race. bropwn eyes are rare indeed however anything is possible when talking about genetics. It could be a throw back to multiple generations past.

same as white skinned partents can have kids that have dark skin if one of their ancestors multiple generations ago had dark skin.

genetics it is something that makes us wonderfully different..

enjoy your looks and think you are unique
