It's a total scam. A well meaning relative got me one of these once, because they knew I was working on our genealogy. All that's in it is world wide phone book listings. I'm sure it does come from ancestry, since Ancestry has world wide phone book listings. So the item description isn't a total lie. But why not just look at the phone book listings for free right on Ancestry? Or on the Yahoo! People Finder?

Bottom line, anything that promises something for nothing, a free lunch, easy answers, or genealogical information without a whole lot of work on your part is a complete and total scam.

I don't even trust legitimate history books these days when it comes to my genealogy research. However, I suggest you go to google.com, select --more--, then select googlebooks.

Type in the surname of interest. If it is public domain, you can download it. If it is copyrighted, you can see snippets of it, or buy it. The world's libraries are being shoveled into there, and I'm sure you'll find something.

And remember, a history book is only as good as its sources and citations...

Legitimate, if you want a list of people named Ehly with NO connections shown.

Illegitimate, if you are doing genealogy, which is about connections.

Most of your relatives are not named Ehly.
Most people named Ehly are not your relatives.
