There's nothing French about the name. But it is Russian and Scandinavian. It's a variant of the old Finnish name Ostroil. Because Finland has a history of going back and forth between Sweden and Russian, it has some pretty nifty phonetics. This name goes back to at least the 5th century when there was a Scandinavian ruler named Odril/Ostroil.

it is Lirdo spelled backwards :-)

Sounds like it might be an old family name. Try to check back on your family tree

It is a French name, though not a common one. Perhaps it is a family name, or your grandmother could have read it in a book.

Hope that helps.

maybe she made it up... i dont know .....well good luck with figuring that out....

i would say it is Nordic, a Viking name. i am pretty sure of it in fact.
