Could you "additional facts" your question and explain what that Feb 1, 1844 date represents?

I did find in the 1850 Census of Subdivision 15, Knox, Tennessee the following entry that seems to match...

Samuel D. Sterling, age 35, white, Farmer, Value of Real Estate 1,000, Could Read and Write
Elizabeth, age 39, Female
Elizabeth, age 5, Female
Marion, age 3, Male
Mary, age 1, Female

If the date in the question is a marriage date, this would match quite nicely.

Also, in the 1830 Census for the same region, there is a Samuel Sterling and in his listing it shows 2 male children 15 to 20 years old. Samuel D. Sterling (above) would fit into this category so it is possible that father of Samuel D Sterling was also Samuel Sterling.

Addendum: Samuel D. Sterling died before 1860. In the 1860 Census for District 6, Grainger, Tennessee, his wife Elizabeth was listed as widowed. There as also an additional female daughter identifed as Armenia R (age 10).

Elizabeth's middle initial was given as "H".

Also potential applicability. In the 1870 Census of District 4, Knox, Tennessee, Elizabeth (think it's the same one) is living in the household of John Albert (age 24) and ELIZABETH (age 28) [original elizabeth's daughter???]. The match possibility is increased because John and Elizabeth have a son MARION (age 8/12) which would have been his uncle's name if the match is correct. So Elizabeth's daughter Elizabeth likely married John Albert.
