Where does the name "Cassie" originate?

"Cassie" .... IS a pet name of Cassandra. [it is not a name by itself]. Cassie: < also Casey, Cass, Cassidy, Kasandra, Sandy etc> also can be variant of Alexandra. [both names are Greek and have similar meanings].
Cassandra is Greek; and means "helper of men" OR "disbelieved by men" ALSO: [other derived meanings of the name(s) "Valorous, brave, watchful" and "ingenious, clever one," and "treasure master". "helper and defender of mankind" etc etc etc.

Cassandra in Greek Legend was a beautiful Trojan Princess whose prophetic warnings went unheeded; [hence the 'disbelieved by men']. [i.e, the destruction of Troy occured because no one believed her or heeded her warnings]. But due to some other things historically, the meaning of "helper of men; or "helper and defender of mankind" [in parallel to Alexandra] is where that meaning comes from. I think it is an okay name; the meaning is great, atleast by definition. I don't know why you hate it? It's not a bad name. *grins* sad stuff there, but not a bad name. ?
