Position:Home>Genealogy> What's the best way to search for a deceased parent's information?

Question:My biological father passed away in 2002. I've been trying to find out where he may be buried. I have his social security number, date of birth and death, city/state of last residence. I can't find a thing on where he may be buried. I've paid for the geneology sites too. It's becoming exhausting, but it's vital that I be able to pay my respects. Any search ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the web site below, you try a web search in google's web page News section then use the archive section, you might find a obituary.

Good luck and good hunting

Contact the city where he was last known to have lived, and see if they have a death certificate in his name. Sometimes, those list cemeteries. if they do, but it does not have cemetery information, you can do the time consuming things and call the offices of the cemeteries in that town. They keep registers listing the people they have interred. Also, if your biological father had other family, you might be able to find them and ask.

Good luck!

You probably need to get a copy of the obituary or a copy of his death certificate to find out where he is buried. Contact the county courthouse where he died. Since you are next of kin, you probably should be able to get it.

If you know the funeral home they would have that information. An obit can be obtained usually from the local newspaper or the local library.
