Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Visit Ancestry.co.uk
I am English [I thought]
On Ancestry I now find I have Scottish ancestors and Welsh ancestors.

I use Ancestry. co.uk you can get all census for Scotland on there plus B.M.D.

I suggest FAmily tree maker 2006 version - costs about £35
But don't forget to back everything up as if your omputer dies on you then you will lose everything and will have to start again - as I discovered to my cost.

I like Roots Magic, which lists for US$29. The Mormons will let you download their program, PAF, for free. It is adequate. RM has more features.

There is a distinction some people fail to make, between genealogy programs, such as FTM, RM and PAF, and genealogy data, such as Genes United, the LDS mega-site, Roots Web, Free BMD, GenUKI and so on. The lady who suggested FTM and I assumed you meant a program. In that case, unless you need support for a Chinese, Cryllic, Hebrew or othee non-Roman alphabet, the program will be good for any nationality of family tree. If you did mean data, there are lots of sites.

Roots magic is fantastic for mapping everything out and you can make a lot of different charts with it..ideal for personalised mini tree's for family this christmas!
