So far, I haven't found her connected with a Hogg in the 1900 census.

Your great-grandfather Rufus is found in the 1880 TX census, age 16, single, working on a farm. Except, in the census they spelled the surname HEWITT.

Rufus married ALMETA SHIRFIELD 08 JAN 1887 Sunset Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Sunset, Montague, Texas. (Note surname spelling.)

SARA SHERFIELD is found in the 1880 census in Jackson, Boone, Arkansas, age 9 (born 1871) daughter of ROBERT SHERFIELD, farmer, age 35, born 1845 in AR, parents birthplace unknown; and SUSAN SHERFIELD, age 38, born 1842 in AR, parents birthplace unknown. Robert and Susan's children were:

James (son) age 13
Sarah (daughter) age 9
Elijia (daughter) age 6
Elizabeth (daughter) age 4
Robert (son) age 2

Now, you know that in 1880, Sarah was living in Arkansas with her family. You also know that she was in TX in 1887, when she married Rufus. Considering her age, it seems logical to assume the entire family moved to TX between 1880 and 1886. You also know that Sarah and Rufus were married in Montague, TX, and you know the surname spelling is different. From this information, you can determine the county to verify the marriage information. You also might be able to locate land records, since they probably lived near where they got married. When you run out of places to look for info on Sarah, try searching for info on her siblings.

If you get stuck in your research, feel free to email me for ideas on where to look next. Good luck!

By the way, I do hope you know you can't take as gospel anything anyone online tells you, right? Every piece of information I gave you was found in various online databases. I wasn't the one who looked at the original documents. Unless you're the one looking at an original document, you haven't verified the information, and can't say with absolute certainty that it's accurate. (I've seen tons of errors in Family Trees people have uploaded to the 'net, and it's a bit offensive when the errrors concern your own relatives.)
