Well, sortof, the can find people that have similar chromses and gene structure also your ethincity places a big role in it

Caucausin - USALLY, GERMAN, IRELAND, GREENLAND, BRITTAN, ETC
AFRICAN AMERICAN, - AFRICA DUH
SPANISH - SPAIN
ASIAN - CHINA, JAPAN, PHILOPINES.

Just a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing your ancestors were from Africa.

I am O negative too.. my ancestors were from Portugal.. although word is I had a great great Grandma that was 1/2 Russian which might account for the variation because most people from Portugal are A blood type. On the other hand my guy has A+ and his people were mostly Irish or English at one time I think they could tell but now with so much traveling about I don't think you can anymore.

Not necessarily, but you can get DNA tests done that will tell you a lot about your heritage. You order a kit to test your cheek cells. There are all kinds of plans and packages that you can purchase. Some companies that do this:

http://www.genelex.com/
http://www.genetree.com/
http://www.healthanddna.com/genealogy.ht...
http://www.dnatestingsolutions.com/html/...

National Geographic is doing this thing where they will test your DNA to see where you come from and link you to family trees that have already been discovered or whatever, its on the website, a kit costs like $99. I really want to do it but I dont have money to spend on that right now. Its really interesting though, you should check it out.

I don't think your blood type can tell you much...the dna itself is the clue for a lot of genealogy companies providing the service online

Unfortunately no. There are only four types (eight if you add Rh (the + and -)): O, A, B and AB.

The only statistically significant indicator in blood type is actually one that sort of tells you were you AREN'T from, as opposed to where you are from.

If you have any of the negatives (A-, B-, AB- and O-) then it is very unlikely, though not impossible, that you came from East Asia (China, Korea, Japan, etc.).

But for everything else, the statistics are virtually consistent with overall population percentages.

O+ for example has the highest percentage of the population (in regions that have been monitored) in Hong Kong at 40% but the least percentage in Finland at 27%.

So no, blood type really can't tell you anything in regards to where you come from.

There are DNA test which only requires a swab of the cheek with something like a q tip but they are not exact at telling you exactly where your ancestors came from. They can point to northern europe for instance. I think one reason can not be exact as nationalities themselves are not pure. People migrated. There have been boundary changes in countries. So many different things. I get a laugh at hearing people call themselves a pureblooded Irishman, Italian, German or whatever. It sounds like they are talking about their pedigree horse or dog.

Your blood type cannot determine your genealogy. However, you can have simple test done for a very reasonable cost. All you have to do is a have a cheek swabbing and submit it for testing. I believe the test kit can be sent to your house via the mail and sent back the same way. I'm sorry I can't provide a company name or address, but I do know that the test usually runs about $100 and tends to work better in males. The testing is also very effective.

I would say, "No", but a DNA test can provide that information. I used www.familytreedna.com, but there are others, such as www.dnatribes.com, www.dnaancestryproject.com, et al.
