Position:Home>Genealogy> What nationalities do my grandparents look?

Question:They don't know mcuh about their Nationalities really because both of their parents died when they were pretty young except for my grandma's dad. He was part Irish and German and Cherokee she knows. She knows nothing about her mom's side. My grandpa knows he is some German and Cherokee. We cannot find much info on their parents. I know you can't always judge a book by it's cover but do my grandparents look anything else? We heard there could possibly be Italian in the family what do you think?

Ignore the first person, My grandparents are the 2nd and 3rd person. http://i23.tinypic.com/5y4wh1.jpg

Your grandmother looks like my Aunt Betty, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

Edited to add that if you're in the US (which I assume you are because of the Cherokee references), then you can look back on old census records from 1930 and earlier and that will tell you the country where people were born, as well as where their parents were born. Your public library may have access to these through a subscription to ancestry.com or heritagequest.com, or if it's an especially large public library, they may have them on microfilm.

It sounds like you are interested in genealogy. Talk to someone in your local genealogical society to find out how to get started. It's a great hobby!

Your grandmother looks Finnish or possibly Polish as well.

go onto www.ancestry.com
go onto search and type in thier birth names and dates
there you should be able to find thier birth certificates with thier parents names
you can carry on going back as far as you like in the same way
(search for thier parents birth certificates to find thier parents etc)
the website also includes death, marriage and cencus (who was living with who, where and when) records which may also be usefull
