My mother promised a nun she would name me Rachel. Ironic, really.

My mother was going to name me Roscoe utnil my grandfather found out I was a girl and wouldn't let her lolz.

My christain names are Alexander Morton(called by Morton)

Alexander is my fathers first name and also Alexander the Great
Morton is a family name, Grandfather - James Morton, Aunty - Margret Morton and another part of family farmed in the deep south of South Island, NZ in an area called Morton Mains. One of their 5 sons was called Morton (Uncle of Chris Jack, NZ All Black)

Of course my name is sweetpotatoes.....but it doesn't mean that my Mom conceived me of potatoes.hahahah, or maybe she loves frenchfries or fritters...or perhaps she loves to grow aweetpotatoe in her garden, whatever the story of my name,...I won't tell you the truth, because this is not my name..hahahahaha......

because it is a sad world sometimes

my first name is from a movie, actually. a very cool, 40's noir film, called "Laura"
my middle name is a variation on Catherine, which on mother's side of the family traditionally, the oldest daughter gets her own variation (i like mine the best ;)
& my last name is one adopted by my great-grandfather in an attempt to get a job as a mechanical engineer because the name he was born with was Jewish. it failed, but that worked out for the best in the end as my family immigrated to America before WWII and survived.

& that's the story of my name.

My given name is Patricia. My father wanted to call me "Priscilla," which my mother didn't like, fearing that kids would call me "Prissy" (and they probably would have, too!!) They were able to compromise on Patricia, and here I am :-)

I guess my mother watched "The Yearling" (Disney?) and the kids name was Jody--so she took a variation on the spelling to make it more "girly" -- then cause that wasn't bad enuf gave me my grandfathers first name as my middle name "Jay"--but my grandfather's name lives on as my son's name is Jay!!!
