Smillie, Nellie Marquriet (need to verify my info.)?

Question:I have :
Nellie Marquriet Smillie born about 1867 in Illinois and died 6 Feb 1925 in Kokomo, IN
she had a child by Samuel Gibbs (Guy Francis Smillie b: 11 May 1891)
As well she married Fred Ehrhart and had children.
I have her parents as John F. Smiley from Canada and Elvina Lozier from Ohio.
It has been indicated to me that the parents may be incorrect, I know the rest is 100% .
Anyone have info on her parents, with verification. If I'm wrong I want to correct it. If im correct I want to know for sure. (Guy is my ggrand and I need to know for sure if Nellie's parents are truly John and Elvina.
Any help would be really helpful. Please no goofy answers or insults here, Am very worried that I may have made an error in her parents and this bugs me.

There are no people named Smillie in Illinois in the index to the 1870 census I subscribe to. This was the closest in Illinois:

1) John died
2) Martha goes by Mattie
3) Nellie goes by Nella
4) Mary A in 1870 is really Mary Ellen, and she switched to "Ellen" for 1880 to thrown her descendants off the track.
5) James b. 1870 died or was farmed out.
Look at the father's BP, mother's BP.

The only Smillie I could find in the 1880 census with a birth date close to Nellie's is from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This person is "Nettie A. Smillie"

for one thing her name would not be smiley if her sons name is unless she she had him out of wed lock.

guy is found in every census from 1900-1930 in howard co ind
with his wife in 1920 and 30 pansy verne

so is samuel gibbs a smiley
