You're 87.5% Italian (7/8) and 12.5% (1/8) German, assuming the grandmother is the only blood relative that is not 100% Italian.

Since the percents don't divide easily by 2, most of us use fractions instead. You are haf your dad and half your mom, so you halve their fractions. If, for instance, one of your parents was 1/4 Chinese and 1/4 Cherokee, you would be 1/8th each of those. (half of 1/4 is 1/8)

If you got another 1/8th from the other parent, you'd add 1/8 + 1/8 = 2/8 = 1/4.
